My postpartum story

My herbal remedies have the essence of a perfect mother. Always there to listen, guide, and soothe. A mother you feel most yourself with and trust so deeply that you melt into her breast as she heals you from a soul level. Her Divine guidance brings you into relationship with your wider self.

A little over two years ago as I prepared for the birth of my first child, I read the book, Natural Health After Birth by Aviva Romm. Before even finishing the book, I began making my own herbal postpartum remedies. The image of soaking in a warm herbal bath with my newborn softened my heart and allowed my mind to daydream about the beauty that was just around the corner.

I potioned big batches of teas, tea bath herbs, herbal oils, and perineal spray. My herbal allies aided me on my journey to prepare as best as possible for the path ahead. I was excited to use the remedies I had concocted for myself and my child.

On January 21, 2021, my son arrived peacefully at home. Quickly our worlds turned upside down. Even as well prepared as I felt, nothing can truly prepare you for the shift that takes place after giving birth.

There are so flowers without rain and my postpartum experience was incredibly challenging.

I remember wondering how it was possible for it to be so hard, especially after I felt so prepared.

When I felt most defeated, my herbal remedies provided healing and relief. Like a gentle mother, the plants held my hand and sang songs to ease my troubles.

The botanical scent of the perineal spray made the dreaded bathroom break more bearable.

Floating in a pungent, herbal bath with my newborn son, breathing in the thick air, allowing the silky waters to penetrate my sore body grounded me and reminded me of the deep magic I was a part of and that I was creating.

The herbal oil that I used in abundance to welcome my new body into existence gave me a chance to offer gratitude to my powerful, able body. Even when it was hard to accept the change that occurred, the herbal oil reminded me of what was good and holy.

My cups of tea provided me with moments of calm and peaceful security. My achy, tired body relaxed a bit and provided me with opportunities to recall and remember the events of my child's birth. The tea allowed me to be present with myself, my breathing, and my body.

A little over two years have gone by and my postpartum experience is deeply rooted in my senses. I can still smell, taste, and feel those first few months... and they feel nourished. The herbs took the many challenges and transformed me into an evolved mother.

There are no flowers without rain and my postpartum experience was incredibly healing.

My goal in sharing my herbal creations with my community is to bring mothers a feeling of nourishment and healing that penetrates the body and spirit.

As our herbal garden grows this summer, there will be additional remedies available for your consumption.
